The BirthCo. Team
Katherine Melot, MSPP, DC, CACCP
Doctor of Chiropractic
Meet Dr. Katherine Melot, like Merlot without the R and a little less fun at girl's night. She is the founder of BirthCo., lead clinician, and every pediatric patient's favorite playmate. She spent her adult life bouncing around to 4 different states and 3 different time zones - passion got her here but the people made her stay in the great state of Texas. She is one of 8 siblings (yes, her mom was pregnant A LOT of years).
Her passion for Chiropractic sparked at the ripe ole' age of 8. Interest met her need when she saw her younger brother heal from epilepsy through Chiropractic and holistic healthcare. It was through caring for and treating expectant mothers in her Student Clinic that she fell in love with prenatal and pediatric care. She feels most fulfilled knowing she can play a small role in helping baby have a smooth and optimal entry into the world!
She is passionate about early morning pour overs, long runs on Town Lake, and creating a fun and healthy culture in her private practice. Sarah Blakely is her hero (founder of Spanx and Super Cool Chic) and she loves watching Shark Tank.
Dr. Melot received her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2015. She continued her education at Life University in Marietta, Georgia where she completed her Masters in Positive Psychology. Dr. Katherine Melot is a Certified Webster Technique Practitioner, holds Certification by the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics (CACCP), and is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, ICPA.

Molly Pluss, DC
Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Molly Pluss (pronounced like a + sign) takes her name to heart with her good vibes only attitude. She was born and raised in Dallas, Texas (Dallas Dallas not a suburb). In high school, she was extremely passionate about therapeutic horseback riding + working mentally and physically challenged people. This ignited her passion for helping others and began her interest in physical rehabilitation and healing.
She went to Texas A&M University earning a B.S. in Animal Science and got to live out her cowgirl dreams. She had classes training horses, sticking arms up cows where the sun don’t shine, shearing sheep, and birthing foals just to name a few.
Dr. Molly attended Parker University earning a Doctorate of Chiropractic with a Clinical Excellence Award and certification in Animal Chiropractic. She has adjusted guinea pigs, bunnies, cats, dogs, pigs and horses! She believes that every creature with a spine deserves chiropractic care.
Dr. Molly has a special passion for adjusting prenatal women and is honored to help them through their pregnancy journey. There is no such thing as TMI for her, she is not afraid to discuss anything! (Just ask anyone around the office - no topic is off limits). Dr. Molly also loves adjusting kids of all ages and understands how crucial spinal health is for their development.
In her spare time, you can find Dr. Molly riding horses, watching true crime documentaries (addicted), kayaking on Lady Bird Lake, or on an adventure with her dog, Joey, who has been by her side for the past 8 years.
She cannot wait to help you and your family function at one hundred percent and express life to the fullest!

Samantha O'Brien, DC
Doctor of Chiropractic
Meet Dr. Sam O’Brien (the apostrophe is the bane of her existence)! She adores treating pregnancy & pediatric patients and gets especially *nerdy* about correcting musculoskeletal dysfunction & functional movement. She is a snowbird from Chicago who migrated to Texas in search of warmer weather and new adventures.
A multi-sport athlete surrounded by athletics her entire life, she found her passion for movement and exercise in college (cAHllege). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in nutrition, while also playing Division 1 soccer, at Northern Illinois University.
With her history as a chiropractic patient, her love for helping others, and fascination with how to attain pain free movement, she continued her education in chiropractic. She became the president of Logan University’s Motion Palpation Institute Club, where she spent 3 years mentoring other chiropractic students with their rehabilitation and adjusting skills (did we mention she is passionate about this stuff?). She also completed over 400 hours of additional education while attending her regular classes. She is passionate about clean living and just cleaning in general (she is a clean queen (freak)).
In Dr. Sam's free time, she enjoys being outside with her pup, being on the water, or exploring different biking trails with her fiancé. She considers herself a big foodie and LOVES to explore the unique restaurants Austin has to offer. Mexican food and a fresh margarita is about as good as it gets (and may be the number one reason she moved here). If you have any recommendations or recipes to try she'd love to add them to her list!

Michelle Mejia, DC, MSFN
Doctor of Chiropractic, Master's of Functional Nutrition
Meet Dr. Michelle Mejia, most people butcher her last name with saying a 'j' rather than an 'h' sound so feel free to call her Dr. Michelle or Dr. M for short. She grew up in the small town of Merced, California (fondly known as Merdead for being in the middle of nowhere but 2 hours away from everything). She moved to Texas three years ago during chiropractic school because California was not the place for her and it's the only other state that has decent Mexican food (her favorite and the true reason she married into a Mexican family).
Chiropractic for her is not just a form of treatment, but a lifestyle. She received her first chiropractic adjustment from her dad within minutes of being born. She developed a passion for empowering women during their pregnancy and postpartum journeys by witnessing the home births of her five younger siblings. She has since been a birth attendant for a total of 9 home births. She is passionate about educating, advocating, and supporting mommas so that they can make the best healthcare decisions for themselves and their families. There is a special place in her heart for postpartum mommas whom she loves to encourage and empower during the major life transition of motherhood.
With her passion for family wellness, she received a Bachelor's of Science in Family Studies from CSU Sacramento. In between undergrad and chiropractic school, she worked as a behavior technician for 3 years where she taught acquisition, verbal, social, and self-care skills to autistic children and infants.
Dr. Michelle continued her education at Parker University in Dallas, Texas
where she received both her Doctorate in Chiropractic and Master’s of Science in Functional Nutrition. She is a firm believer that health comes from the inside out, so she is passionate about supporting her clients with diet, supplement, and overall wellness guidance. She takes a holistic approach as our functional nutritionist with a focus on restoring hormonal balance by considering the
many factors and aspects that make up your well-being. She goes over specific laboratory testing to uncover the root cause of your symptoms and then develops an action plan with individualized
lifestyle changes and recommendations.
You may find Dr. Michelle on local trails with her hubby of 6 years, signing at a local deaf event with her family, tasting wine in the hill country with her girlfriends, or singing her heart out to Disney tunes at karaoke night. One of her nieces attends Texas School for the Deaf so if you know sign language, she would love to practice signing during your next visit in the office.

Sarah Saucedo
Director of Operations (chaos)
Meet Sarah, she is the glue that holds all the offices together and makes sure we are running smoothly. She has been with us since the very beginning. Without her, who knows where we would be!
She brings her extensive skills of all things parenting and management to her role at Birth Co. She wears many hats, but her top 3 include being a mom, a CLEC (Certified Lactation Educator and Counselor) and an avid babywearer. All of which allow her to pass along the skills and encouragement to the patients in the office, contributing to our one of a kind office atmosphere!
When she's not at the office with her favorite work family, she's busy raising her family at home. This includes a husband, three sons, two cats, two dogs, and a LOT of houseplants....oh my!

Jenni Barker
Office Manager
Meet Jenni, our front office manager. She's what makes our office run!
For 18 years Jenni devoted all of her time and attention to her two children, Kailey (24) and Sky (19), as a stay at home mom. Since stepping down from her role as a full time mom in 2016, Jenni has served as both a Chiropractic Assistant and Administration Specialist in local chiropractic offices. She enjoys making each patient feel comfortable and connected during their visits. Her experience as a mom and GiGi allows her the compassion, patience, and understanding new or expectant moms needs on days they are feeling overwhelmed.
Outside of work, Jenni enjoys shopping for antiques, fishing the Corpus Christi Gulf Coast, road trips, and spending every moment possible with her grandson who she adoringly refers to as Peanut.
